Workforce Development

NUCA of Nebraska participates in activities to help expand the pool of qualified labor for the utility contractor and excavation industry, in order to assist NUCA of Nebraska member contractor companies in attracting and retaining employees. One of the goals is to partner with CSO, Nebraska Workforce Development, and Nebraska high schools, community colleges and universities and trade/vocational education schools to provide information and offer curriculum and programs in utility construction and excavation.

NUCA of Nebraska’s Workforce Task Group provides input about curriculum, provides an employer perspective, helps secure equipment, offers training and instructors for certain topics, and assists through the hiring process by putting applicants in touch with members. The end goal is to attract new qualified candidates each year to the workforce for positions that our member companies need to fill.

NUCA of Nebraska members participate in the FFA State Convention and SkillsUSA State Convention to promote career paths and opportunities in the underground utility construction industry to students. The students are also eligible for NUCA of Nebraska Scholarships.
